Q & A Time: Woii

What is Woii?
Woii is a website dedicated to the ever evolving sounds of UK Bass Music.

Why did you guys (Luke Hopper and Matt Hensby) create Woii.co.uk?
We felt there was a need for a site which offers up-to-date news on
releases, events, mixes and the artists that are shaping the scene. This
is the music that we love to hear when we're out in the club, music that
we are excited about.

What can we expect on your site?
Woii is split up into four sections; news, features, mixes and nights.
In the news section you can expect anything from new release info, new
videos, free track downloads and anything else in between. The
features section has full album reviews and EP releases,
exclusive track downloads and streams, as well as in-depth event and club
night reviews. The mixes section is simply a selection of our current
favourite mixes from across the net, and finally we have the flyers from
our pick of upcoming events.

What's your take on the music scene in UK right now?
The current music scene in London and in the UK as a whole is really
exciting; we're seeing preconceived genre distinctions break down with
producers putting out unclassifiable releases taking on elements of
House, Garage, Techno, UK Funky and more. In terms of clubbing; nights
are now exploring different avenues with the artists they book - a
single line-up can feature underground UK funky artists alongside big
name Detroit techno DJs. Everyone seems to be open to exploring
different sounds.

Any New Years projects on the go for you two?
For Woii, 2011 is all about launching a club night, the first of
which will be coming very soon.

Luke: What are your top 5 tracks at the moment?
There's so much good stuff around at the mo, but off the top of my head:

Julio Bashmore - Ask Yourself
Contakt - Not Forgotten
Mosca - Tilt Shift
Cassie - Must Be Love (Jacques Greene's Marriage Proposal Mix)
Dennis Ferrer - Redroom

Matt: What are yours?
For me these have to be up there:

T. Williams - Heartbeat (Mosca Remix)
Bad Autopsy - Rot Pot
West Norwood Cassette Library - Blonde on Blonde (Pearson Sound remix)
Mele - I Swear Down
Seiji - Whisky

The Gospel according to Woii: who should we look out for in 2011?
There are a few artists they are in for big things this year, keep an
eye on Blawan, Jacques Greene, Mele and Brenmar. There's bound to be
more but these guys are definitely going to blow up!
